1:00 pm: Peacemaker John Dear at First Presbyterian, Santa Fe

February 4, 2024

On February 4th at 1pm, longtime peace activist, author and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Father John Dear will talk about his newest book, The Gospel of Peace.

Father John Dear has long been a prophet for peace and nonviolence. In a world wracked by war and violence we need John’s voice and vision again, and again. His newest book, The Gospel of Peace, is a commentary not just on the Gospels, but on the state of the world that’s witnessing two major wars, rampant gun violence, unchecked environmental degradation, and assaults on our humanity from the border crisis to a crisis of our collective souls. In the face of incidents like January 6th, Father John boldly acknowledges that one cannot faithfully call oneself a Christian and still embrace violence and tyranny. The courageous work of nonviolence, as seen in the lives of Jesus, Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr. continues through John Dear as he challenges us to look beyond war and conflict, to see nonviolence as the only true alternative to address the many crises facing us all.
